TLC Workshop: Assessing Writing in the Decade of AI

TLC Workshop: Assessing Writing in the Decade of AI In-Person / Online

This workshop will propose methods for assessing student writing across the disciplines, specifically attending to the components of student writing that have become more valuable after the widespread uptake of General Artificial Intelligence (GAI). We will look at assessment practices proposed by writing scholars like Carmen Kynard and Asao Inoue to consider what we should care about when reading student writing and where that overlaps with student-driven purpose and interest. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a framework for creating outcomes, rubrics, and feedback mechanics to address student writing.
